Terms & Conditions

  • "We" are The Bournemouth School of English, "the School", operating the english&more programme.
  • "You" are the the parent/guardian of "your child".
  • "Your child" is the person who will join the programme.

By reserving and booking a place with english&more, you automatically agree that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by the following Terms & Conditions.

It is your responsibility to read and understand the School's policies, procedures, and guidance as found in our Contract of Care and Code of Conduct documents; if there is anything you do not understand, please ask.

Neither the School, nor its representatives, are liable for loss of tuition or other services due to public disturbance, industrial action or factors outside our control. Refunds cannot be made under any circumstances. The School does not accept liability in case of illness, accident, loss or damage to personal effects or property.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an enrolment, and to refuse services, in the event of misconduct, poor attendance, unsatisfactory behaviour, or absence of advance payment.

The School's directors reserve the right to exercise their own discretion in all matters; their decision is final.

Application process

english&more is an exclusive programme with limited numbers; you must apply for a place but we cannot guarantee that place until full payment has been received.

In order to guarantee a place, you must:

  • complete our Enrolment Form;
  • return a completed Parental Consent Form;
  • pay a deposit of £500.00;
  • pay the remainder of your fees.

We will confirm when we have received your application, and send you an invoice with payment instructions included. Your deposit should be paid as soon as you receive this invoice.

You can choose when you want to pay the remainder of the fees; the latest date for payment is 15th June 2017. Please remember, however, that we work on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that your child's place is not guaranteed until you have paid in full.

If there is no place available for your child when you are ready to pay the remainder of your fees, we will refund your deposit in full. However, if spaces are available and you do not take up the place, your deposit will not be refunded.

You are responsible for providing us with accurate and full contact details for you, and your child in the UK; it is also your responsibility to inform us immediately if there are any changes in these details.

Privacy Policy

We will keep your and your child's details on our computer system according to UK data protection laws.

In order to fulfil our obligations to you and the British authorities, it is necessary for us to see and retain a copy of your child's visa and passport, or equivalent proof of identity.

In order to prove parental consent, it is necessary for us to see and retain a copy of your proof of identity.

In order to help us to safeguard your child appropriately, it is necessary for us to take a photograph of your child, store it on our computer system, and share it with appropriate third parties.

We will not share your contact details with anyone else, but we may need to give your child's name and medical information to companies and individuals that require them to ensure your child's safety at all times.

Travel & Transport

It is your responsibility to ensure that your child has the correct travel documents and/or visas, but we will help you to understand whether a visa is necessary and which visa you should apply for.

Some students, typically those who do not have European passports, will need a visa to enter and study in the UK. If your child needs a visa to enter the UK, we will provide the correct letter to support your child's visa application at no extra cost.

If your child's visa is refused, or if the visa is not approved in time, you will be forced to cancel your child's course. Your cancellation will be treated according to our Cancellation & Refund Policy and so we strongly advise that you apply for your child's visa with sufficient time for it to be processed and approved.

We offer a free airport transfer in our programme price, on arrival and departure, from either London Heathrow, London Gatwick, or London Stansted airports. It is your responsibility to ensure that your child is booked on flights that fit with our schedules.

To take advantage of our free service, you must book flights that arrive/depart between 09:00 - 16:00 (9am - 4pm) on the first and last day of your child's programme.

There will be a compulsory additional charge to provide a private airport transfer outside of these times, or from any other airport. We will not give a discount or refund if you do not use our airport transfer service.

You are welcome to visit our school, to drop off or collect your child; we would be pleased to give you a tour of our school and a free meal on arrival.

Insurance

Our programme includes bespoke insurance for international students; however, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are happy with what is included and covered by the insurance policy we organise for you.

Your child is automatically covered by a comprehensive insurance policy, provided by Gibbs Denley insurance. This company is an expert in insurance for language schools and international students; its StudentGuard+ insurance cover is applied to each of our students. For more information about the insurance, including what is covered, please click here.

It is your responsibility to review this insurance and decide if it is appropriate for you and your child. We do not accept liability for theft, loss, or damage to property or possessions.

Student Behaviour

We reserve the right to cancel, without refund, the programme of any person whose behaviour is likely, in our opinion, to cause distress, damage, or danger; to themselves or others.

Your child will be expected to behave appropriately, showing respect to property and people. If your child does not meet our standards of acceptable behaviour, they may be excluded from the programme.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your child has read and fully understands our Student Handbook and Code of Conduct, which will be sent in advance of arrival. If your child does not behave in accordance with our rules, your child will face disciplinary action and, if necessary, will be expelled from the programme. Should your child be expelled, it is your responsibility to ensure the immediate and safe return of your child to their home country.

Your child will be responsible, and may be charged, for any damage caused; whether by accident, through misconduct, or through association.

Your child will be expected to lodge a £100.00 damage deposit with the school on arrival; this deposit will be returned to your child at the end of their stay, minus any costs incurred.

We reserve the right to search any person, or their belongings, in the event of any reasonable suspicion of theft.

Health & Medical treatment

Before we can accept your child as a student, you must give us information and instruction regarding their healthcare and medical needs.

We accept students on the assumption that they are in good health; if your child arrives with a medical condition that we did not know about, we reserve the right to send your child home by the next available flight, at your expense and without refund, if it is determined that we do not have the resources to meet your child's needs and safeguard them properly.

We will have First Aid trained staff on site at all times but your child may be charged for a consultation with a doctor. In case of medical emergency, your child will be taken to the nearest Accident & Emergency department, where initial treatment is free.

In all cases of illness or injury, we will follow the advice of attending medical professionals unless otherwise advised by you.

Changes

We will make every effort to deliver the programme as advertised, but we reserve the right, without liability, to change the particulars of the programme where circumstances beyond our control necessitate such changes.

Should circumstances beyond our control dictate changes, or where the number of bookings does not reach the minimum required to operate the programme, we reserve the right to make changes to all services provided including, but not limited to, the course, locations, facilities, and accommodation.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

To cancel, you must inform us by a clear statement in writing. Please note that a cancellation is only valid when it has been received and acknowledged in writing by the School.

You have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of making your payment, without giving any reason. This is your cooling-off period. Within this period, you are entitled to a full refund of all monies received. For this reason, we will not start providing any services to you during your cooling-off period, unless you specifically ask us to do so. If you ask us to provide services during your cooling-off period, we will be entitled to charge you for these services should you then decide to cancel.

If you cancel within 14 days of making your payment, there will be no cancellation fee. If you cancel more than 14 days after making your payment, the School will impose a cancellation fee, as follows: If you cancel more than 60 days before your child's start date, the cancellation fee will be £500.00. If you cancel less than 60 days before your child's start date, the cancellation fee will be £1000.00. If you cancel less than 30 days before your child's start date, the cancellation fee will be 100% of the fees paid.

Within 14 days of acknowledging your cancellation, the School will refund the amount received minus the cancellation fee and the cost of any services already rendered, such as courier services and credit card charges. The School will not be liable for any bank charges incurred during a refund.

The School will not give any refund or discount if you cancel after your child's course has started, decide to leave early, or change the length of your child's stay.

Concerns and complaints

If you are not satisfied with any aspect of your booking, please speak to us as soon as possible. Any concern or complaint will be dealt with in accordance with our Student Concerns & Complaints Policy.

Neither the School, nor any member of its staff, can be held responsible for any accident or injury that is the result of a situation not directly managed by the School, or that is not proven to be the result of negligence.

If you do not understand any part of these Terms & Conditions, please ask and we will be happy to explain it to you.
